I got a brief from Johan Lindau from Blå station for this project. It was short and simple, manifest pine. Growing up in Sweden it is impossible not to have a relationship to pine. It is in many places over used and hated as a material but it is none the less one of our biggest national resources. My connotations when I think of pine almost always goes back to the swedish almoge. That's also where I started this time.
I saw the pieces in my table as beams coming down from the sky, almost like the concrete walls during the million programme in Sweden during the 60s. Interlocking and creating a sustainable structure that can endure anything. I had lived in Tensta for almost two years at this point a suburb to Stockholm, a million programme area and before that only a farming village.
I saw all this and tried to translate it into a piece of furniture. So this is my take on the swedish almoge, the pine, the million programme and modern swedish furniture design.
